Garrett Lodge is a Los Angeles-based music producer, recording studio owner, independent artist, and founder of RECSTU, one of the nation's first recovery-focused recording studios. His journey into music began in middle school, and by the time he arrived at Pepperdine University in 2012, he was spending more time building a recording studio in his dorm room than attending class. After four semesters, he left college to pursue music full-time.
Over the next decade, Garrett built a successful career producing music for artists while developing recording studios on Los Angeles' Westside. But behind the growing success, he struggled with addiction, depression, and a cycle of setbacks that eventually led him to treatment. Following years of challenges, he got sober in November 2020, a turning point that would reshape both his life and career.
While continuing to produce music professionally, Garrett realized that the recording studio could be much more than a place to make records. Drawing from his own experience in recovery, he began inviting clients from local sober living communities to write and record original music in a safe, substance-free environment. The response was immediate. What started as an experiment quickly evolved into a mission-driven business that combines music production, creativity, and recovery support.
Today, Garrett operates two studio locations in Los Angeles through RECSTU, helping aspiring artists, beginners, and people in recovery write, record, release, and share their stories through music. The studios have become a creative home for hundreds of clients seeking confidence, connection, and self-expression.
In addition to his work with RECSTU, Garrett has built a growing independent music career. Since releasing his own music independently in 2023, his catalog has generated more than 2.75 million streams across platforms, proving that artists can build meaningful audiences without major label backing. Through his record label, The Lodge Records, and his work as a producer, he continues to develop emerging talent while advocating for authenticity, creative freedom, and long-term artist growth.
For Garrett, music is no longer just a career. It's a vehicle for transformation. Whether he's producing records, mentoring new artists, or helping someone rediscover their confidence through creativity, his goal remains the same: to create spaces where people can heal, grow, and make something they're proud of.
